received call from foreigner possibly India decent. Very demanding that I give him my SS# and he would tell me who was suing me. Says his firm is American Legal Services and his name is Michael Shaw. Called me "honey" and said that if I didn't want to co-operate I could expect a visit from police on Monday morning with papers. Said several companies were filing suit against me. I asked him what SS# he had on me and he said he could not give out that info but did say my address. As I tried to call him back he took my call but threatened me and hung up.
I having been receiving all kind of calls from some attorney named Michael Shaw. He said there was a lawsuit against me at CashAdvanceUSA He said they are going to take me to court and sue me for 3000 dollars. He told me I had to pay him 300 dollars today to keep my name clear. I told him I didn't have any money. I googled the information and found this is a scam. I have non stop 202 area code numbers calling my phone.
Well - he has changed his name to Sean Conner - same heavy India accent - total scam. "I wish you well as the situation unfolds on you." Who talks like that?
I received a call at work from Michael Shaw saying i was in legal trouble and needed an attorney and to contact him as soon as possible at 202 239-6225 he's an indian IDIOT i am pissed that he is calling my job phone to harrass me i have never been in legal trouble and to make it worse your calling my job that is a law firm what an idiot he won't get any money out of me!!!
I suggest buying a good quality air horn and the next time they call blow out their ear drums. I have used this in the past and it stops them from calling. Another tactic is just try laughing at them over the phone, when they hear someone not taking them seriously, they don't waste their time. They make their money by scaring people into giving them money, just stand firm, laugh, make comments, FIGHT BACK. Also, if you are afraid that it is legitimate, when they call, just ask for their company name, address, and state they are licensed in. You can search ANY business license in the state they are registered. If they refuse to give the information, it is not legit. If they give you something and the license does not show up anywhere, also then it is not legit. These companies count on us consumers to not do any research and just send money to get them off your back. DONT SEND ANYTHING!!! Request and fight back, you are US Citizens and we have rights against these scams. I will refrain from using racial slurs on this chain, but I can think of a few words I would like to call these people right now and I am sure several people feel the same. To anyone I have offended, I sincerely apologize as this is not directed towards you, just the low lifes that make a career on ruining someone else's. Hope that helps!
Same as other complaints!! Only the phone number is different#202-239-2003,also202-239-0073. What is going on here! If I had been close to him I would have slap his face! He said it was a legal matter and that he was the FBI!!! What a JOKE!!
