This was "Amanda", a very pleasant robot voice claiming to be from "Home Protection", making an illegal call in violation of the National Do-Not-Call Registry. "She" was looking for homes to receive a free security system, but the line went dead in the middle of "her" spiel. Darn shame - I LOVE when these folks call. In the past I've had them on the line for 30 or more minutes, asking softball questions about their systems, and, best of all, setting up an appointment for an installation. When an installer comes, I hand them a copy of the NDNCR to give to their superiors, reminding them that they are working for a company that is violating the law with their sales practices, and suggesting that they might do better working for a more stable, law-abiding company. Sometimes you just gotta' fix things yourself...
Called me again, and once more, when I indicated interest in a home security system, the call dropped. So, they seem to be running a pretty incompetent campaign here if they are dropping calls of people "interested" in the offer.
