Caller from 202.381.2728 stated he was from the "federal government" department of grants and/or treasury department. Said I'd been randomly selected from among 1500 people in America to receive a once-in-a-lifetime-grant of $9,000. Said his name was "Adam Smith". Accent & unfamiliarity with english words and terms indicated to me that english was not his 1st language. When he couldn't tell me whose faces were on the $100, $50, $5, or $1 dollar bills, I subsequently deduced "Adam Smith" wasn't really an agent of the Treasury, however cleverly he tried to disguise his identity. I did manage to keep him on the telephone for about 20 minutes before he started using profanity (barely recognizable) and hung up.
Called my cell today. I didn't answer as any call from the 202 area code is invariably a fraud of some sort. My suspicions confirmed after searching 800Notes. This site is a great resource.
Called me today and told me I was chosen for the 9000 dollars because I paid my taxes and bills on time. She sounded creepy and sounded like a rebot talking. And then I asked her how can be possible when I'm not 18 yet ?..and she hung up.
