Caller from 202.381.2728 stated he was from the "federal government" department of grants and/or treasury department. Said I'd been randomly selected from among 1500 people in America to receive a once-in-a-lifetime-grant of $9,000. Said his name was "Adam Smith". Accent & unfamiliarity with english words and terms indicated to me that english was not his 1st language. When he couldn't tell me whose faces were on the $100, $50, $5, or $1 dollar bills, I subsequently deduced "Adam Smith" wasn't really an agent of the Treasury, however cleverly he tried to disguise his identity. I did manage to keep him on the telephone for about 20 minutes before he started using profanity (barely recognizable) and hung up.
Just missed a called from 202 381 2728. Because of all the thieves out there trying to get people's information by misrepresentation and crockery I do not answer my phone if I do not know who is calling.
Keep getting calls from this # but I never answer. After looking this site up my suspiciouns were correct. Next time I'll answer and tell them to go you know where....
while I no longer live in 407 area code, i have the kept same phone number. The contact name is District of Columbia. I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize and certainly not a call from Washington!
This number 202-381-2728 call me twice...they hang up as as i answer..I suspect it was fake call so i google the number and I am here at this site.. Good work confirming my suspicion.
I've just received a call from this number from a woman with a Hindu or Pakistani accent telling me that I was awarded $9,000 from the department of treasure for being on tike paying my taxes. For not being arrest and for complying to all USA laws. I told the lady to send me the money and she asked me to give her my account information. Of course, I said NO. She immediately hanged up. Some needs to do something about these people.
