Got the same call at 3:38 PM CST on my cell phone. Heavy middle-eastern accent, $9,000 grant, ask me if I was paying any taxes. Didn't give him any info. Tried to call the # back, got message that it was a non-working #. Reported call to the FTC.
I just got the same call from a woman who said I was given a $9,000.00 grant from the federal govt that I don't have to repay & the number that showed up on my phone was from 202 area code which is DC.
This person wanted me to give her my savings or checking account number or my visa or master card number so they could place the money in my account by direct deposit.
When I asked the person for the address from where she was calling & to speak slowly, she immediately hung up.
Definitely a scam because if a grant was done that way by the Federal Goverment, advance notice would most likely be given in a letter via the U.S. post office.
I got the same call from a woman and she wanted my checking and savings so I gave her a fake prepaid card number that doesn't have a 3 digit code on the back and made some numbers up. She gave me a confirmation id and told me to call another scam number. I called the number she called from and it said it was a none working. She called me back asking if I called the number she gave and I said yes but no one answered. I then told her I tried calling her number back and she immediately told me I should call the other number and give them the confirmation id. I asked for a website and address but she only talked about some man who suppose to answer when I call the other number. Definitely a scam thank god I gave her some fake numbers.
I got a call from this number on my cell telling me I was being awarded a $9000.00 grant. I told them I didn't have time for this and I hung up. This guy was foreign and it was the same phone number. He called e 4 24 14.
Got a call from this number...he is hard to understand and when I tried to tell him so he started talking over me with Lalalalaal in a very loud voice. Obvious it was a scam so I hug up. he called back I did not answer.
