I too have been getting these calls for weeks every morning around 8am. They don't leave a message and I have never tried calling back. This is on my landline. But... the name on caller ID is Wm Malone not octothorpe.
My aunt's number has been id'd as this number on my caller ID. Her area code is 313! She said AT&T sold her account to a company called Cavalier. I'm concerned because she is a senior and of course vulnerable.
I received a call today from 202-540-5120 (which appears as W. Malone) who said he was calling me from the US Government and I had won a grant for $5,000.00 that didn't have to be repaid.
He said, "You're probably wondering how I got your name right?"....I said, Uh-huh...he said it was pulled from a pool of names of people that pay their taxes on time, that haven't filed for BK in the last 6 months and pay their bills on time. Now, can you tell me how you'd like to spend your $5K on?
I told him to take my name off the list and to never call me again. You could hear a lot of others operators on the phone talking in the background and he had a definite accent to his voice. He identified himself and it was definitely an indian or pakistani name.
This number 202-540-5120 is ID'd as AIC ATTSE DSL. They keep calling trying to get me to upgrade my DSL. I am on national do not call and for the third time AT&T do not call list. Told to report them to BBB, don't have enough info on them to report. You need address with zip code. I will keep trying! Oh, just got a charge for $34.95 on phone bill from a third party (Tericom Networks) not sure if this is related. AT&T took care of this.

they charged our business twice each time for 34.95
its suppose to be an internet web page hosting company, suposedly we had a site consisting of 5 pages.. well i looked our company up and what do you know, there is NO webpage.. i called the payment one corp people and they promptly took care of it.
the telemarketers claim they are from the yellow pages and want to verify your info...
