This number called my cell. Caller ID revealed Washington, DC. I did not take the call. It left a voicemail with a recorded robotic female, Siri-like voice with the same message as Jane's, above.
Common sense says this is total BS: if a person is the subject of an IRS audit or investigation, it will send the person a letter. I know - over the years the IRS has sent me two such letters, though it sent both back in the day before cellphone and VOiP scams. I blocked the number. Received a call from this number with a recording saying it was a second attempt to notify me before having to appear before a judge, grand jury in. Federal court. If they don't hear back from me or my attorney the only thing they could say was good luck on me. Really? How can they make these calls to people making them think they are in some sort of trouble? Just not right!! SCAM!!!!
They are thousands of Indian and Pakistani scammer/extortionists. A few are located in the US. Government is attempting to shut them down but all they can do is try to disable the call numbers.
