Got call from recording saying IRS has lawsuit against me and I should call them back at 202-803-4318. This # was on caller ID as WASHINGTON DC. Clearly a scam. I filed complaints with FTC and IRS, and notified my local police.
It is a scam. They try to find frightened people who will send them money. Usually they want a credit card, or for you to go to Western Union and wire them money.
This number called twice so far today and left a message that I could only hear part of. I called the number back, and it was answered (after several attempts) by someone saying just "hello". I said I wanted to know what company this was, or what his name was....nothing but silence. I said I was going to report this number and they hung up, after my listening to breathing for a minute or so. So very annoying!
Got 2 voice mail messages today. They said that the IRS has lawsuits against me, ha !!!
PEOPLE LISTEN UP... IRS does not contact you by phone unless you have an ongoing case. Just delete the calls and go on with your life. This is the way the world is now. I'm not happy when I get these calls but there is nothing I can do about it.
Received a call early in the morning while in Pacific Time Zone on vacation from this DC area number. I did not answer but the automated call left a voicemail. The VM began with a portion already cut off and stated I was being sued by the IRS and should call back the number. Very annoying but I don't believe them at all and won't be calling back.
My elderly mother received a call from this number, and had the same message others in this post: "The IRS has a lawsuit against you..." Good thing my sister works for the IRS, so my mother knew not to fall for it! Besides, she knows she's done nothing wrong to make the IRS file suit against her. This is ridiculous!
