This number called saying something about being from the national Treasury, if I don't comply I'll face "serious" legal trouble. Who the hell do they think they are? Number just says "Washington DC." Can't call it back.
Another scam artist purporting to be Kevin Mason from the US Treasury. Transcript of session:
"Hi, this message is intended to contact you. My name is Kevin Mason and I'm calling regarding an enforcement action executed by the us treasury intending you're serious attention ignoring this will be an intentional attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate judge or a grand jury for federal criminal offense. My number is 202-840-6515. I repeat 202-840-6515. I'd like you to cooperate with us and help us to help you. Thank you."
Received recorded message claiming to be from the US Treasury and I needed to respond or face legal action. Asked to press 1 to speak to an attorney. Obviously this is a scam and hung up. Will not call back. I know the IRS does not operate like this and hopefully people are not naive enough to fall for this.
