Caller ID said Washington, DC. Rcvd it at work 1st thing this morning. Automated message from "IRS" regarding a criminal lawsuit they have filed against me, gave a case # that I didn't get, and return phone number for me or my attorney to call 202-864-1724. The end of the message broke up but essentially told me that if me or my attorney failed to return the call "Good luck as the situation totally unfolds on you". Can't believe the IRS would leave a message like this. Pretty sure it's the same scam/new number.
Its a scam. The caller is trying to scare you into paying taxes you don't owe and you have to pay them right this minute by credit card or bank account number, He wants those numbers so he can spend all of your money.
Yup. Just got it. Didn't answer. Threw the number on Google. Here I am again. At least this time it wasn't from Dell or Microsoft. I've called up the FCC and the local useless congress people. You all already know the answer. They couldn't care. I noticed that this all started with my cell phone when I bought a Dell laptop that lasted 6 months and put a call into Dell to see if they would honor my warranty, which they didn't. Unfortunately, their CS is in India AND the calls started about a month later. Coincidence...? Ya think --
Total IRS scam. Callers are hard-core Indian and Pakistani scammer/extortionists, as such they are beyond the reach of US law. Scam's been around for awhile. Ignore and block the calls. They tend to use 202 and 206 area codes. You might consider blocking those two area codes.
I have received this same IRS impersonator with a threat to myself saying they have a case against me. All bogus. I hate this stuff because I know there will be some poor soul take their lying word and I just want to protect them
Same message from person saying they were with the IRS and it was a criminal lawsuit. Good luck if you don't return the call. Will anyone stop these things?
