These scumbags are spoofing Caller ID, using a VOIP robo dial program.
Sometimes, the spoofed phone numbers are not valid.
Sometimes, the spoofed phone numbers are legitimate. When this happens, the real owners of the spoofed numbers become victimized by hundreds of angry people like us.
Being on the DNC list doesn't help.
Having an unlisted number doesn't help.
A computer is doing all of the work.
What the bloody ###. This number called me at 4:30 in the MORNING!!!! I was still asleep. Thanks for waking me up you idiots. Since I didn't recognize the number, I DID NOT pick up and they DID NOT leave a message. Something has to be done about these stupid calls. There has to be some kind of law about calling people at ungodly hours and not leaving messages. I don't care where they are calling from.
Here's the real problems - The FTC makes millions of $$ by selling the phone numbers of the people on the "Do Not Call List" to telemarketers. The FTC tells them "don't call these people". The telemarketers say "Thanks for the numbers!". Then the FTC makes BILLIONS of $$ off of fines from these companies - yet the FTC POCKETS this cash while we suffer from all these scam phone calls. The FTC is too LAZY to stop these calls. Typical government workers! They could stop all this in an instant. All phone calls are traceable.
