Download the "Disconnect Ring Tone" and play it whenever you get a call such as this. Note there is a pause between your picking up your phone before someone answers. This is the computer determining whether it has reached a valid number. If you play the disconnect tone, the computer automatically removes you from their calling directory.
I've received numerous calls with a recording says FBI & Police statistics show I'm at danger and asks me to press 1 to speak to a rep.
"Ron" answers and promises to provide free home security but when I ask what company he represents he hangs up
caller ID says "WASHINGTON" but no other info - calling that number & it rings and a recording answers that says "press 1 to be added to this organizations' do not call list.
I did - and will report back if the calls stop
You can call the number back and press 1 to be removed. I am sure they will just call again from another number but they at least have to remove you for a day or so.
Interestingly, I received a call yesterday from 949-757-0844 with similar message. As they keep calling over and over again (and I don't have option of not answering -- it is my business cell), I "pressed" one to speak to the sales representative. As I am expressing my displeasure with "John," he hung up on me. Today, I get a call from this Seattle number. I again press one and low and behold, I am speaking to John once again. John moves around pretty quickly, it seems. Anyway, he again hung up on me.
I have reported to the FTC -- see if that helps -- but probably not.
