Download the "Disconnect Ring Tone" and play it whenever you get a call such as this. Note there is a pause between your picking up your phone before someone answers. This is the computer determining whether it has reached a valid number. If you play the disconnect tone, the computer automatically removes you from their calling directory.
Just filed a DNC complaint. Only allowed 25 #'s on call block. Do not know anyone in Seattle. Told DNC I don't have bills, don't want security system and don't want to lower my interest rates. I'm fed up and will file a complaint with every unwanted call from now on. I'll get a life when they do.
I too have been plagued with these annoying scam calls. I started answering the phone and saying "Police Department, Homicide Division, please hold for a Detective". They hang up and after usually about 2 calls, those numbers quit calling.
The DO NOT CALL registry is a waste of time.
I filed over 93 complaints so far and it didn't make any difference.
Telemarketers ignore the registry, as well as our requests to be taken off their Call list.
This call blocking software for home phones works, and is free :
http://www.phonetray.com/phonetrayfree.htm
It will block those calls that are "allowed by law" :
charities, phone surveys, political calls ( it's an election year ),
and companies with which a consumer has done business.
If no number shows on caller ID, it can block by name, such as "UNAVAILABLE".
It will block over 65,000 numbers. Most phone companies allow only 10 blocks.
I don't work for Traysoft; just a very satisfied customer.
