Calls originate in India and Pakistan. They spoof local numbers. Like to use area code 202 so people might think they are located in Washington DC. Ignore and block the calls.
Received two calls from 917-310-1120 and one from 206-900-8702. It's a voice recording claiming to the IRS and that you must call them back with all your info because they are suing you. They call at all hours, 11am, 4am, 6am.
I received a call from this number 206-900-8702 (caller ID said "Washington Call" WHILE I was listening to the same bogus SCAM from 765-558-3694 (caller ID said "Indiana call") with a recorded message claiming to be "Steve Martin," and speaking with a thick foreign accent. "Steve" advised me that this is "an enforcement action by the U.S. Treasury and a 2nd attempt to avoid appearance in front of a magistrate for a federal criminal offense." JEEZ, how ridiculous. 1) no one is summoned by a PHONE CALL, especially not for a federal criminal offenses (there are rules for Federal actions against you- google them); 2) The U.S. Treasury is NOT the IRS- the entity most ordinary people would have contact with; and 3) "Steve Martin" with a thick foreign accent? Come ON.
