Calls originate in India and Pakistan. They spoof local numbers. Like to use area code 202 so people might think they are located in Washington DC. Ignore and block the calls.
I am in Colorado. I was working at my desk about 2:45 pm. I received a call from (206)900-8702. When I answered the telephone "United Mine Workers of America, my name is Desiree. How may I help you?" there was mostly quite but you could hear many other calls going on the other end of the line. It sounded like a call center. I repeated, "United Mine Workers of America, my name is Desiree. How may I help you?" There was still no answer so I said "Hello?" and they hung up. I immediately called the number back. I woman with a heavy accent answered "US Treasury" so I figured my turn to listen. I could again hear several calls going on in the background for about 5-10 seconds. Then she hang up.
Moral of this story is that these people are only out to scam information and money. Please do not fall for their weak attempts.
This call was from Seattle with the last 4 digits 9166; the first 7 digits the same. "My name is David Gray ... " is how the recording began. The odd idiom usage is a dead giveaway of a non-American unfamiliar with the English language. "David Gray's" call was threatening and I don't need these creeps grasping for the misery of everyone they call.
Good to see everyone's stories. I'll post mine so that if someone gets something similar they can take a deep sigh of relief.

I got the same message from 757-263-4907, twice today, Threatning that the US Treasury had an Enforcement Action pending against me and I needed to call him for immediate help
