Calls originate in India and Pakistan. They spoof local numbers. Like to use area code 202 so people might think they are located in Washington DC. Ignore and block the calls.
I am located in central Indiana. A recorded message was left on my voice mail at 1:40 pm EDT on 9/25/15. Caller ID says "Washington Call 206-900-8702". Best as I can tell, the recorded message text is as follows--poor use of grammar and all--and with one word I can't make out: "Hi. My name is David Gray, and this message is intended to contact you regarding an enforcement action executed by the United States Treasury intending it to yours attention. Ignoring this will be an intentional second attempt to avoid an issue appearance before a magistrate judge, or a grand jury, or a federal criminal offense. My number is 206-900-8702. I repeat, it’s 206-900-8702. I advise you to call ______ with us and help us to help you."
I am in Colorado, I received a call from this number twice yesterday claiming to be the Treasury Dept. (a male foreign accent and hard to understand) recorded message .... that I would need to appear in court before a jury and didn't quite understand what for... the recording was very garbled. On the second call I called the number back and a woman answered "Treasury Department" (foreign accent) and I said, "you called me and wanted me to call back and she hung up." Tried twice more and just got messages, phone number not working, etc. I also looked up the number and is based in Washington.
Received 2 calls from this number with a recorded message stating that this was David Greg and stating if I didn't call back, I would be ignoring a summons to appear before a Federal Magistrate. I am reporting the call to the BBB and the Indiana Attorney General's office, and I would recommend that you do the same.
