Report them to FCC. Even if they were a legit debt collector there is a standard message that is required by ALL debt collectors before they even try to speak with you and these people obviously don't have that knowledge. They're probably sitting in a kitchen at home trying to con people with either older dead debts or none at all. KNOW THE LAW!!!
They have been consistently calling me about a past debt I have already paid, they said I am being sued. And want me to settle. They knew my personal info and when I told them I googled their number and knew they were a scam they argued and again told me to settle, saying I got scammed when I payed the debt. I told them I would wait for the summons cause I think they are fraud. They called again and transferred me to a person who asked for my number and once I told them they hung up on me.. DO NOT PAY THEM ANY MONEY!!!
Ps I contacted the original debt holder asking if they were filing a lawsuit on me and they said no, they don't sue for debt and my account has been settled.
They called claiming I owed money in hospital bills but could not tell me when the invoice was from or for what. She could only tell me it was from 2009 and I disputed that even being possible she said was from 2004 to 2009! I requested document(s) explaining what I owed and to whom either by mail, fax or email but she says they don't send any documents. She kept saying I was going to be taken to court and it was better for me to settle now because of lawyer fee, the judge tripling my debt, etc. I will not pay to someone who can not provide me with any info other than my name and the last 4 of my social security #.
Got 2 phone calls. From this number this week. The first went to vm the second one was a ROBO call. I pressed the number to speak with a rep. STACY tried scaring me saying that I had an out standing debt from my hospital with 2 dates of service going back over 10 years. They said they sent me a letter for litigation (which I NEVER got). They said if they took me to court the judge would rule against me and it would be "worse than bankruptcy". They had the last 4 digits of my social, my maiden name and a hospital I've visited... oh and an address that was very recent (just not recent enough).
I later asked to be transferred to someone else. They patched me through to JENNIFER AUSTIN, SETTLEMENT DIRECTOR that can be reached at 239-307-5144 ext. 403 (if you wanted to know :p).
She said that I could not get another detailed litigation serve or whatever or even the details to the debt, unless I paid the settlement- which was a very nice round number. The payment had to be in MY NAME (they said they accepted VISA, MASTER CARD and AMEX) and no one else's. --- I'm assuming its because they already have my name, last digits of SS, address and now CC (if I would have given it to them).
I'll be awaiting their next call-as I'm sure its coming. I'm going to record the call and send it to the BBB and my State's official scam investigation bureau.
