I find it hilarious that you are an educated college professor and actually felt the need to research this. What a clown. They had a recording tell me to call them, The DEA, because I bought illegal prescription drugs. I call them back every five minutes begging them to let me turn myself in.
I received a garbled message from a man with a middle eastern accent. The call kept fading in and out. Eventually he said something about fraud and advised me to call him back at 210-390-8365. The call came to my cell phone with a phone number of 000000. Of course I didn't answer it and did not call the number back.
This guy actually called a friend of mine and told her we would both get in trouble for fraud if I did not contact them. Unbelievable!! Said they deposited money in my account that I never repaid but would not tell me when it went in or how much or the name of the company who made the deposit. Just wanted me to provide ACH authorization over the phone. YEAH RIGHT!!! I told this idiot to either e-mail or mail me something showing proof and he said he was not permitted to do that. Thats when I hung up. I will contact my bank to let them know about these idiots, if they don't already know.
I have received a call from 210-390-8365 at my place of employment today when I looked at the phone it came up 00000. I did not answer. I let it go to voice mail. The man with a middle eastern acienct left a message stating his name was office Bob White and he has my friends name and I was to pass this message along to him. He has fraud charges againt him. If I did not pass this along or call him myself I was going to be in trouble as well. He said he was from the Federal Defense and Law Firm. Then he tells me to have a blessed day at the end. NO credit place of REAL tells you to have a blessed day. WTF stop these calls. I am very upset that they are bothering me at work. This needs to stop.
got the same message and have not called them back. tried blocking the calls but they do get around that. My wife got a call and was about to pay the so call amount and I told her it is all a scam. she then called a lawyer and was told to forget about them. however, if these people contact your place of employment they can be suited for alot of money and hopefully putting them out of business.
I just got a call from this number today stating the same things I'm seeing here. Somehow they even got my Friends name on whatever debt they are trying to collect. I see a lot of people have reported it and was wondering how and who do I report it to?
