Recvd call tonight on my home landline phone at 7:49pm CST from 212-529-5461. My 12 year old son answered and the male caller pretended to know him and said "hey whats up" then said "hey,let me talk to your mom or dad real quick". I would not take the call so the guy quickly said "have your mom call me back" then he quickly hung up. It scared my son. My son had asked him "who is calling please" and the guy said his name was Marlin, Mervin, Merland or something like that. Upon me having my son inquire about the call, my son asked him what he needed, who he was with and what the purpose of his call was but the guy would not respond. The Caller ID "name" shows "unavailable". I work for the local phone company and also have been on the National Do Not Call List for years. I rarely get strange calls such as these so I'm not sure who these people are or why they are calling or how I ended up on their call list. Hopefully they will not call again......
Just got a call from Central Research asking to conduct a 'survey'. When I declined and asked if I could call the caller at their home later she threatened me by saying "I'm three hours ahead of you, I can call you all night."
Of course, when this fine lady dropped out of high school they apparently explained afterward how time zones worked because I am in the Pacific Time Zone AFTER her in New York.
I called and complained to Central Research at the number above and got an apology. The operator said he could identify the caller and I asked for a call back. We'll see if that happens.
