I had to answer this note. My husband passed away three tears ago the first of November, So I am also a widow.
The caller hangs up after 4 rings so I never spoke to him/it . When I tried to call back the number is NOT is service.
I had my phone number unlisted [ landline] and how can you add to Do Not Call when the number ""IS NOT IN USE""
My daughter gave a cell phone so most of the family and emergency calls are on the cell phone.
Ellie ~ I know exactly how you feel being alone makes the "asinine" calls. My husband traveled quite a bit so sometimes it dulls the pain of the corrupt a$$e$ that make the calls. You will be in my thoughts with good wishes. Also ~REALLY amazing about our names being so much akin.
I've got a panasonic land line that can block up to 30 calls, obviously thats not much help so I refresh/delete the old ones first and start all over. got sick of that crap so I bought a Sentry phone call blocker for $50...now blocks up to 9,000 calls!!!
I purchased a Panasonic cordless phone system at Costco for around $120.00. Base station phone with 4 satellite phone. It blocks up to 250 calls works like a champ. The nice part is that it enables finding the complete number including area code whereas caller ID may only show the name or part of the number. My call blocking has been getting a workout over the past few months.
I just ordered one of the Sentry Call Blockers. It says it blocks up to 9999 numbers. Still waiting on its arrival. Cannot wait. I have heard nothing but good things about them. GOODBYE TELEMARKETERS AND SCAMMERS!!!
If you have Verizon Fios, you can call them and they will assist you by going to your TV to block phone calls. They took us through the steps one by one. It is our understanding that we can block as many as we want at no charge. However, we did have to call twice as the first person we talked with at Verizon was in Arizona and not very knowledgeable about anything. When you reach someone, ask them if they can direct you to do this through your TV and to please stay with you through the first process of blocking. You should take notes so you can do it yourself next time around. If you don't have Verizon, then call your telephone company and ask for directions to block.
