I just received the same message. It was a recording from a Steve Martin (with an accent) from the US Treasury enforcement department and I was going to be taken to federal court if I didn't pay. I don't owe any money. He said " Help us to help you". I got this call 3x's in a row yesterday on my home telephone. Have been trying to call the IRS ever since but cant get through at the 800-829-1040 number.
This is a SCAM!! If you get a call from this number-it is not legit! FRAUD-BEWARE
If you listen carefully in the background, there are sounds of other people making calls. From this, one could deduce that this is a 'boiler room' scam operation. I am surprised that some government agency has not acted on this, but as someone has previously noted, he may be too small an operation to go after. Every time he has left a VM here (and that has been several times) he has never used a name to address to whom the call is being made and has given a different call-back number: 213 401-2744, 713 481-5118, 585 542-5186 each time. Do not bother to respond, I think it only encourages them. My number is on the National Do Not Call list, and this is a violation of those rules - but I don't think they care. Cell phone numbers are also eligible for placement on the National Do Not Call list, Google it and add yours, then THEY are in violation...
Is a Scammer. Guy with a foreign accent said he was with U.S. Treasury Department and then told me all my properties had been seized and all my accounts frozen due to some debt I owed the IRS. Since I owe the IRS nothing and was actually at an ATM at the time, and it worked perfectly, I told him he was a liar. He hung up on me then, and refused to answer when I called him back. I called my mortgage company to check on my properties and then spoke to the bank manager who said everything was fine on my account. I called this guy back and he once again refused to answer. His phone system said "extension 7005" is currently on the line and asked me to leave a number. An internet search for his number and extension have NOTHING to do with the U.S. Treasury Dept or the IRS. I have reported this scammer to the IRS, DOJ, and treasury department now. Suggest you do the same.

Man with foreign accent called said I owed money from 2011. I would have all my assets seized and my property. He said I didn't receive a letter because I had a company do my taxes and they never sent me a letter. If I didn't prove I could clear this matter up immediately I would be taken into custody within 45 minutes. I asked him what address that would happen and he said we will find you. I kept asking why he was calling me on a number that wasn't the department of treasury (I was looking it up on the computer while talking) and he said I wasn't taking this seriously and they would be coming to take me into custody and hung up.
