I just received the same message. It was a recording from a Steve Martin (with an accent) from the US Treasury enforcement department and I was going to be taken to federal court if I didn't pay. I don't owe any money. He said " Help us to help you". I got this call 3x's in a row yesterday on my home telephone. Have been trying to call the IRS ever since but cant get through at the 800-829-1040 number.
This is a SCAM!! If you get a call from this number-it is not legit! FRAUD-BEWARE
Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.
Got one of the scam calls this PM. A Mr. Keith Martin, who had a non-English accent, stated my son was in deep trouble if he did not call 213-401-2744. Said he was from the US Treasury Dept, and my son had blown off a prior call to report to testify before a Grand Jury. Called the scammer back, and he answered "US Treasury". Told him I needed a subpoena or other written documentation before he would reply. The guy acted offended and said a warrant for hos arrest was pending. Told this guy it was a scam and he hung up.
Received a call and had some difficulty understanding the man with the accent who stated that i f I did not return the call, I could be arrested and tried before criminal court. They have now called twice. I called back and the call was answered as the Department of the Treasury. I told them that I had reported this number and they hung up. Quite satisfying.
I got several calls from the same person today. He was telling me that I/we owed money to IRS from 2011. I told him a professional accountant files our taxes and I didn't think she would make a mistake. I gave him my name and last name, and nothing else. I would like to know if giving my name ( but no birthdate or social security number ) could be a problem.
Man with a non-American accent warned me of second notice that must not be ignored about a federal offense. I called back this evening and got a recording (US accent woman) that the person at ext 7005 is unavailable...
I have a call blocker from England that didn't block this one.
