If you want to try to get at the shource of junk calls from 216/912-2002, they are:
Satyam Copmputer Services
200 W. Propsect Ave.
Cleveland, Ohio 44113
The contact person who I reached was Sharon Ruder at 216/654-1820. She would not verify what was the source of the call (which was from somebody with a thick Indian accent), but when I told her that it was a marketing call to gather "business information" for "Maptex," she told me that she had an idea of which of their clients that it was. Their clients use their system by sending their phone calls through their system, however technically it works. The offender which she "suspected" was a company from India. She would not give a contact fax number, but promised to try to contact the source of the calls to stop it (at my phone number that I gave to her).
Three calls today from this number with no messages left. I too am on the do not call list and now that I've seen this site, I will not answer when they call again.
They called our business, asking for our address. I asked why. He said they are a GPS company making sure their informations is current. I said I wasn't giving the address to a stranger. He said he already has the address, but "can I verify it". I hung up.
Lately we are getting alot of calls from these "verify" types. I think if you verify, you've agreed to something, God knows what.
We also keep getting calls from an unknown number asking us to send money for our "online advertising". Not only do we not advertise online, but the callers are unknown name/unknown number and won't identify themselves.
Do people actually send money to strangers just because they ask? !
Don't give these guys any information, it essentially a scam. These jerks collect and verify that your business is open. Then they sell your information in giant databases to other scumbag telemarketers! When you confirm your address and phone number with them, you are basically opening your phone line to more annoyances from asshat telemarketers.
Man with a heavy Indian accent called and I need to varify that we have a locationa at a specific address I said yes we do then he kept asking to be connected to the location and I said I am not able to connect, so he asked for the numbeR. I asked what he was trying to do and where he was calling from, he said someing about GPS company updating information. needless to say I had to be very firm with him in saying that I was not able to give the number out and he hung up!!
