I received a call today asking for my sister in law- who lives 300 miles away. I gave them no information- except that she was my SIL and lived hours away. They would not tell me why they were calling. They wanted contact info for her. I refused unless they told me WHY they wanted this information. They would not, so I did not and we hung up.
They've called my cell several times in the past 2 days. I never pick up b/c I don't know the number. I don't have a Capital One card. I hate nuisance callers like this.
I have absolutely no credit delinquencies and these people are calling regularly but no one is there when I answer. I'm on the Federal do not call list.
I got one of these calls today asking for my ex brother-in-law who lives 3,000 miles across country and who I have had no contact with in 15 years. They really wanted a phone number and kept pushing for one. The caller had a slight British hybrid accent. The sad thing is that my ex b-i-l probably does owe everyone money. She did say she'd take our number off the list.
Is it possible that these people are going over old credit applications and finding where relatives gave our numbers as references or " number of closest relative not living with you"? It's weird that several of us were called for in-laws and other relatives.
