Got call from this number. It was a recording stating someone matching my phone number had written a bad check and they were about to turn it over for legal collections. I DON'T write checks..........
Received the same call from 866-842-1366. Left a voice mail that someone at this address wrote a bad check, and to call the above number immediately to stop their legal department from sending this case to our jurisdiction. I knew this couldn't be right since I hadn't had a checking account for nine years. Called them back, and Thomas Johnson asked for an individual that I don't know. I informed him of such, and he proceeded to tell me thank you, and I will remove your number from our database. Johnson then called back approximately five minutes later and left a message stating that the person they were looking for gave him my phone number as a reference to be reached at.
This lie made me curious as to what these people were up to. I checked on the 866-842-1366 number and discovered it to be associated with Wahlberg and Associates, specializing in Tax relief, and accounting services. Since this was obviously not true as well, I checked on Bizapedia and discovered that Wahlberg and Associates operates out of the Houston, Texas area. This would explain the 281 area code coming up on caller ID's. And according to Bizapedia, "Wahlberg & Associates Inc is a Texas Corporation filed on December 5, 1980. The company's filing status is listed as Not In Good Standing and its File Number is 0054168200." End quote.
Additionally, Charles Walberg (different spelling from Wahlberg and Associates but affiliated with this company) is no longer a registered agent with this organization, not to mention the fact that this company is not in good standing with the State of Texas. But the person who called twice, Thomas Johnson, then left another phone number to have the person they were looking for, which was 864-305-4977. The 864 area code is out of South Carolina.
After reading the above posts, it is obvious to me that these individuals are attempting to scam folks out of money. Please be aware of your rights. Tip: (From the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) "If you believe a debt collector is harassing you, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372). You can also contact your state's attorney general."
"You can also sue the debt collector for violations of the FDCPA. If you sue under the FDCPA and win, the debt collector must generally pay your attorney’s fees and may also have to pay you damages."
You can ignore "Angela King". She is a fraud of the lowest type. In addition, I want you to be aware that the scammers using this number are watching this forum. I have just noticed a Shill response below from a "Larry" that wasn't down voted. I know that it was previously. Meaning that a registered Shill has been manipulating the votes. Desperate scammers are known to try this. They're always caught & exposed.
Be Safe. Be Aware.

I received a phone call from this number & I assumed that it was fraud. Until two months later I got embarrassed and picked up at my job for check fraud from the bank. It was so embarrassing & if I would have known that they were telling me the truth BECAUSE I HAD LITERALLY FORGOT ABOUT THIS, AND I would have paid it. Now I have lost my job because I have a felony for Depository Check Fraud & the transaction was over 500.00. I wish I would not have googled this number & listened to these people who WROTE FALSE COMMENTS probably have not been picked up yet like I was. This has ruined my life. So I advise all people who get a phone call from this firm to take this serious. Dont be an idiot like me & believe everything that is on the internet. These fools probably haven't been picked up yet. FYI
