I received a call from a accented man who claimed he was from Microsoft and my computer had been hacked and was involved in illegal activities. Two hours later, a Technician
called and said he was going to fix my computer problem. I hung up.
You are a lying shill for the scammers, your poor English skills give you away as well as the fact that no tech support company anywhere not even Microsoft can tell if there are viruses or malware on your computer before they ever examine it. There is absolutely nothing in the Windows operating system the can send out "messages" that you are being hacked, have malware or viruses on your computer. If there were such a capability then the installed security software would deal with it and alert the user, not some 3rd world scammer who is so poorly educated that they cannot get an honest job.
Someone tried to pull exact same scam today. I hung and called the number. The machine answering said the company name is Direct Energy. Anyway, these are scammers. Beware if someone calling you from blocked caller id to begin with.
Just happened to me...July 6. 2015.... No number showed up on caller ID when I answered the phone. Said I was going to be resposible for someone using my account information to access and steal money in my area and I would be responsible and prosecuted if they were successful. Said he was with microsoft and he could access my information from this account because it was their's anyway.. I asked for a number and addresss and he gave me this number ...302-482-8155; address 19720 Vntura Blvd, Suite T; Woodman. CA. Was told to get on computer now to go help him prevent THE SCAMMING from going on.Said No, I would call the number he gave me and was told to call it right away because they had to get it done immediately. I waited about 2 minutes andthe Idian sounding man started calling me from a SKPE USER & the 661-748-0240 and told me we had to get on this right away. I told him he was a crook and hung up.....He immediately called back and was angry saying he was warning me and I told him to put me in jail and/or do what he needed to do and I hung up. 10 minutes have passed and no call from him.
my husband got a call from this number on his cell phone. he believed the caller, but thought again and called me to ask if there was a problem with my laptop. he explained that the caller said he was from microsoft and that an attempt had been made to hack his computer. thank goodness he was in the car at the time. i asked my husband which computer was referenced, as he has two offices with a desk computer and then a laptop computer and also a personal one at home. he told the caller to call back in an hour - and, unbelievably and inspite of my saying he would not call back - he did. i listened to the caller and he repeated what he told my husband. i know that microsoft doesn't call you out of the blue. in fact, i learned that microsfot does not provide tech support; you must purchase a service contract from a secondary vendor to get microsoft tech support live...the only suport from microsoft is the knowledge base and that available as a diagonostic tool on your computer.
long story short...i ran the return phone number thru google and bing and - suprise! - discovered it is the latest hack scam. what really surprised me? when i asked the caller what specifically had been done in the hack attempt and he said if i gave him control of my computer, he would be able to tell me. needless to say, i said, 'ha! no!" and hung up.
