I received a call from a accented man who claimed he was from Microsoft and my computer had been hacked and was involved in illegal activities. Two hours later, a Technician
called and said he was going to fix my computer problem. I hung up.
My parents got a call exactly like the previous poster explained claiming to be Microsoft, wanting to scan their computer, which unfortunately they did, and found a Trojan virus. They used scare tactics stating that their computer would be inoperable within 5 hours and they could pay $299 for security software and services. Thankfully they called me and I looked things up and found this thread! It seemed like a scam to me anyhow, but I always double check! Now to secure my parents computer!
