Unlike many hang-up calls I get, these people actually left a message on my Google Voice account: "Let us place a small sign in your yard and we'll install a security system at no cost to you." It said if I wanted to be placed on their own do not call list, press 9. No thanks. That just confirms that someone lives there to answer calls. The call came from Hinton, W. V.
I highly recommend Google Voice. It's free. Calls can be blocked from there. If blocked callers try your number again, they will be greeted with "The number you have called is not in service..."
I figured it was a scam so I didn't answer. If these people call several times I will answer one and tell them that the internet is a wonderful thing. I can locate them easily and then I tell them it would be in their best not to call my number again. Usually I don't hear from them again.
Ma'am, it is just a random number dialed by a computer. They are telemarketers and do not personally know you or the other person who shares your name. Please do not worry about this another minute. Just don't answer calls or numbers you do not recognize. The company is probably not even in West Virginia; it is most like offshore and the number is "spoofed" to appear to be in the United States. Don't give this another thought.
