These people called my daughter's home, my ex wife, and who knows who else. They threatened to file suit if I did not return their call within an hour. When asked how they got these phone numbers the said they they were listed as contacts. I told them they were never listed as contacts. They alleged that I owed Verizon money for service 12 years ago and they had punched the debt.
Really strange call. Woman saying that they wanted to know if someone would be available to receive legal papers on behalf of Rachel Henkins. We are nowhere close to Florida and I told her I didn't know any Rachel Henkins. She claimed she would remove our number from her database.
An actual Process Server is not going to have any conversation with you about any debt you owe, nor will they demand payment from you. If something like this happens, immediately call local law enforcement and make a full report including as much descriptive information as you can give them of the person impersonating a court officer.
Had a very similar situation happen,as others stated on here. A lady threatening me with papers being served, she said she would start calling other people in my family. Said she didn't know what it was in reference too. She transferred me to some guy saying this is from a Verizon bill from 2002!! Knew information about me!! He wanted credit card #!! My husband said it is a scam, and from reading the stories on here it seems it is!!!
Received a call asking if there was an address that legal documents could be served against a person that happens to be my father.... who has been dead since 2001. Said it was a civil complaint and law suit. Highly doubt he owed anything. He was very well financially secure, and when he passed, left everything to my mother. He had no debt at all and everything, including his home, was 100% paid off. Pure scam! Further more, they didn't like the fact I told them my father was dead for almost 15 years, and said even if he DID owe anything, family members in Minnesota are NOT responsible for debt after another family member dies. She refused to state what company she was with.
