Had a friend whose computer was being accessed remotely. He set up a program which they inadvertently downloaded which ERASED THEIR HARD DRIVE. Heavens, I wish I could program like that!
Had gotten a phone call from 1-234-321-3432- the Microsoft Authorized Technicians talking about errors on my computer...the scam well known by crooks trying to get remote access to your computer. The very foreign in an sounding Indian male wanted to argue when I told him he was trying to pull a scam and I would file a report. He hung up on me.
He called me back within 30 seconds from 312-421-0154 and proudly announces that I should pay attention that he called me back! I just kept talking about the scam, and he just kept arguing. I took a pause, and was amazed to hear him calling me a F%#ing [***] repeatedly in and angry voice. Once he heard I was silent, I thanked him for his comentary on a recorded line, and he hung up.
Geez- I thought I was supposed to be the one hanging up!
Just called @ 7 pm. CID said Illinois call. I didn't answer and no message was left.
This is the fourth or fifth scam call I've reported here today coming from different numbers and states. All reports stated the caller had a foreign accent like they were from India, with the same story, calling from Microsoft regarding computer issues, they need to check your computer. Some people said they had no computer, or questioned the caller. Caller proceeded to cuss the person out and hang up when they didn't go along with them. Don't answer calls from names and numbers you don't know.
