Want to have fun with these criminals? Since they are obviously calling from a call center in India or some other nearby country, ask them what city they are calling from. If it's not Chicago (where this area code is from), ask them why it is coming up as Chicago. Then ask them what time it is in whatever city they say they are calling from. Since they are really calling from the other side of the world, they will have no idea. It really gets them flustered. Keep asking. I keep them on as long as I can in order to get them mad...then I explain that as long as I keep them on the phone with me, that's less time they have to try and scam other hard working Americans whose taxes are being sent to their country to support his family. Once they finally hang up, I block them.
Have gotten several calls from them about my pc problems. Now I just ask them "Are you Jake from State Farm?" "What are you wearing Jake from State Farm". They promptly hang up on me.
Our phone service has a number that I dial right after the call to block last call. Check it out with your company. After that, the phone rings once and stops.
