Just got a call from that same number, the guy said it was a survey about mass transit in my borough of ny, told him i don't take mass transit, then ask questions about people in the home, i said too many & refused any questions, took more that 5 minutes
Just received a voice mail from this number. The claimed to be from the Division of Public Health in my state and that my cell phone was chosen randomly. I work for a CBO that has contracts with the state through that division and the area code is all wrong. I believe it is a scam.
I've had several calls from this number and finally answered. It is a health survey, or so he told me. I did the survey, took about a half hour. I was feeling generous. Some questions were pretty personal (zip code, age, race, etc.) at which I just said "no comment" and other questions were typical survey questions about health and fitness, eating/drinking habits, etc. It seemed pretty harmless to me. He even gave me a call back number if I had questions after the survey, at which I immediately called afterwards to see how legit it was. A real person answered and explained all about the survey and answered all the questions I asked him. He told me it is part of the CDC. He thanked me for taking the survey. Hopefully that number will stop calling now!!
This number 312-529-9717 called me twice, I speak a few languages because of my job, last phone call I received was last night Sun. 07-14-13 at 7:05pm and I answered and spoke in German, I immediately was hung up upon and never heard from these guys since.
Btw, this tactic worked with numerous other scam and telemarketer calls, just a tip to minimize your unwanted phone calls.
