UPDATE: I took the call from them at 8 a.m. this morning and played into their game to get as much info as possible. They are reading from scripts, and if you ask them anything that goes off-script, they transfer you. I spoke to 3 people this morning: Louis Wilson, Heather Lawson and Ben Foster. In looking up Heather Lawson, I see complaints about this scam dating back to 2006!! Why can't we stop this?! This personal information should not be released when people apply for a payday loan.
When I asked for an address, they gave me 42 Broadway 5th Floor NY, NY 10004, and said they are the DCA Law Firm - Department of Corporate Affairs. In actuality, there IS a DCA at this address, but it is the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs.
When "Ben Foster" no longer felt like making up stories to answer my questions (such as "If this was in collections, why haven't I received a written notice within 5 days of initial contact, as per the law under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)?"), he said they would go ahead and process my file and we could deal with it at the courthouse on Monday. I sweetly answered "Oh yes, let's go ahead and do that." He was a bit surprised and then asked for my attorney's info, so I said "Yes, he definitely wants to talk to you" and gave him the info. Then I told him that we were aware this is a scam, that I have already reported him to the FTC and FBI, and that all calls were being recorded. I told him to never ever call here again or he would be the one showing up at the courthouse. I hung up. No callback yet. I am sick to my stomach with what these people are doing to scared, financially-strapped people.
I just got a call from this number at my house. It's a middle eastern man claiming his name is Eddie Jones. He called me at work over a dozen times this morning from a different # 315-294-9472. First he said I was being sued by Cash Partners of America for $5,000. I asked him to send me something over and he refused so I hung up. Then he called back demanding to speak to my boss. I refused and again asked him to send me something over. I stayed calm and just kept saying NO and hanging up when he asked for my boss. This just pissed him off more and more. This is all A SCAM! Don't send him any money, just hang up. I myself will be going to the local police department with everyones posts from both #'s he's called me from. Habib (aka Eddie Jones) is not going to threaten me!
This person called me as well. He said his name was Steven Williams. And that I owed Cash Partners of America as well. He said that I had 3 counts of fraud. so i asked him to give me a address or internet site. they refused and hung up. when i call back it goes to voicemail. he said that i owed cash partners of america 5100 dollars.
I just got a call from them too. They said their name was Nick Williams and they were with LLC law firm in New York. They were trying to reach my husband and said that a law suit was being filed against him. He said that he needed to call back ASAP because they were going to come to our house tomorrow to summon him for court. My husband called back and it went straight to voicemail. What the heck? Is this a fraud?
I got a call about 20 mins ago concerning the same exact thing. I was told that I owed cash partners of america $1895 for a payday loan that I took out in Oct 2008. The thing is I was deployed in 2008 and haven't had a payday loan since 1996. I told the Paul Smith and Charles Green to send me the info and they refused stating that I would be served with papers tomorrow. I then told him to go ahead and do what he needed to do and that I would contact my attorney and sue the crap out of him and his office. He then hung up. THIS IS A SCAM. Google the number and you will see the scams that are out there. Do not fall prey to these crooks!!!!!!
I got a call also from the same people and they said that i was being sued for a bank or something when i don't even have any loan out there so he said i would have a summins the next day and then i started cousing him out and he hung the phone up.
