Randomly started receiving one call per day, then two every morning, then call after call after call every single day. Tried to call them back, but they were too busy for my call. It appears it IS a collections agency for Dish Network, which it great for me, because I'VE NEVER HAD DISH NETWORK. Looks like someone is using my phone number for their bad credit issues - this should be fun to try to convince CBE of! [***] better stop calling my number; 5+ calls per day is harassment, especially when it's NOT FOR ME!
More useful information. AT&T informs me that I have a service for stopping annoying calls. After they call I hit *57 and their number is automatically sent to AT&T. After 3 times AT&T contacts them. If it continues AT&T pays hardball. I was told they are pretty successful.
They also said it doesn't matter if my caller ID shows nothing. *57 still sends the number to them. Even if it is from a bank of numbers, AT&T still knows the originating account.
Hi folks, we too received endless phone calls that would hang up on us from 319-833-1308. Thanks to this message thread I called the CBE group at 800-925-6686. After pressing "0" to talk to the receptionist, she put me through to their complaints desk. I told the person our phone number, and they were looking for someone who must have had our phone number years ago. I also told them how annoying it was to be hung up on dozens of times. They appologized and said our number would be removed from their database since it costs them money to call, and that we wont get any more calls. We'll see if this works. Please call CBE to have your number removed!!!!
I got a call today and I actually answered it, first off the guy would not identify himself. Second, he started off by asking how I would like to pay the past due balance on my account, they accept credit or debit cards. Last but not least, I told him that my husband had been laid off and we have no income he asked if I had a credit card I could put it on! I said no of course and told him that I cant even pay my power bill, why should I pay them....this is the best part.....He asked if i could make a good faith payment!!!!!!!! I said no and hung up.
I started getting these phone calls at the begging of April. They never left a message on my phone. If they were to slow for my voice mail, I would hear some faint nasty language being said and then they would hang up. Finally I had answered and a nice person asked if they were speaking to "Nicole...." I said this is her and they are regarding to an account that I had paid off three months prior. The lady gave me a call back number. I believe this to be a scam of some sort. I guess we will find out.
"This number calls everyday - couple times a day. I finally answered it and he asked me if my address was correct before letting me know who he was. I told him I didn't want to give my address out - he stated it was a personal phone call and he could only talk to me if I verified my address. I wouldn't do it so he got louder and said he knew my address and I just needed to verify. I asked him again who he was and he said CBE and that is was personally. I said I wouldn't give my address so he starting yelling - I hung up." -
I had the EXACT same experience except I hung up, not them.
