I am having the same problem as everyone else. I pushed #1 and asked to be removed and they guy tried to sell to me. He wouldn't tell me who owns the company although he did tell me the name of the company. This is a daily phone call that I don't want and I hope some organization somewhere can shut them off
I'm in Houston and have been getting calls from the 713 number as well. I finally hit "1" to talk to someone and chewed them out for continuing to call me after I had hit "2" to have my number taken off the list. The man I spoke to did ask if I had had an energy survey done and I said no and I don't need one. I repeatedly told him I didn't want them to come out and I just wanted off the list... and he finally hung up on me. Surprise surprise, I got the call again about 2 hours later, and this time spoke to a woman, heard her out, she asked how much I was paying in bills each month, how many people were in the household, and said they could set something up on Monday... even told me the name of a nearby street in the neighborhood where they were going to be that day... and I said no thanks. I told her that I didn't see how they were going to help me any, how were they actually going to help me get the $3700? She said the technician will tell you... she just makes courtesy calls and doesn't know anything other than what she told me. I finally just said please, no appointment, and please take me off the list... we'll see.
We've been duped by this before... door to door guy coming around saying they'd be in the area doing water tests and if we agreed to have one done, we'd get a free gift card from a choice of retailers. We agreed, a guy comes to our house in a suit, pulls a case out of his trunk and proceeds to try to sell us a water purification system. We turned it down after the guy being there for over an hour... we said we just wanted the gift card... which we actually did get in the end... the guy seemed pissed but seriously what do these people expect!
Same thing here. They've been calling me, despite being on the DNC list and pressing 2 on previous calls. Today I pressed 1 and asked to be removed. Two hours later I was called again. This time, I played along and made an appointment for Monday. What's funny is, they've got the wrong name and address associated with my phone number.
Apparently, the Florida authorities are in the process of filing lawsuits against these guys. There was a story about it on November 22nd. This has been going on for months in Florida, and I guess now they're branching out to Texas.
I get calls in the Houston area as well, same 713-345-0983 as well as one other number. Starts off with the automated message stating they are going to help me get "stimulus" money by having someone come out and do a "free" survey. I have listened to the entire message MANY times, have hit the "2" to "opt out" MANY times to no avail. I have pressed "1" to get a live person and when I ask them to take me off the list, they just go into their pre-written speech. I told the lady I wanted NOTHING to do with them, she got rude and said "we don't call people to piss them off". Oh yeah??? When I told her I've asked to opt out and she wasn't getting me to agree to have someone come out, she hung up on me. What a bunch of jerks!
A guy named Jim showed up at appointment time. When he got out of his car I did my best to inform him that I did not want his service and I did not want another call. I can still see the fear in his eyes. I almost felt sorry for him but I was not happy. He blamed the whole thing on the company that sets appointments. He said there he would surely see to it that I would not get anymore calls. We will see. I have reported this to a local TV station and Monday I will be calling my state senator. If they call again I will make another appointment. That was almost fun. If everyone that get a call would make an appointment as I did this would stop. Good luck.
