Just got the call. Looked it up and found this thread right away.
Called me saying "Tio" hey, all happy. I just took my gf to the airport this morning to go to Mexico. I thought it was her relative. I explained I'm not your uncle man. He was really good at leading the conversation. He asked me to pick him up in Ontario. To have lunch he will be here two days. I asked how do you know me? He said we met. WRONG. I said no man, not me... he hung up.

How do they get our numbers? How do they know what to say? Who are they?
If I agreed to meet him? Could I call the police, and we go find them??
A cousin of mine received this exact same call from a man claiming to be a cousin in Juarez on his way here. Claims he got in a car accident and he needed to pay off the other driver in order to be released by authorities. Luckily she called me before she sent any money and I was able to confirm this was not our cousin.
Complete Scam.....Do not send this individual a penny.
Caller called my family saying they were coming over from Mexico to surprise my dad his "uncle". He asked my mother to guess who he was, she gave a name and he said yes. My mom ended up giving him our address and 2 other numbers. Mother let me know and I instantly knew it was a scam, they tried calling back but we told them no and that the police was recording the call. They haven't called back.
I have been receiving phone calls on my landline for a while. In one occasion, I spoke to the guy and he started playing the game: I'm your cousin, I told him cousin from where; he said from Mexico, so I told him I'm not from Mexico and I hanged up. After that I just don't pick it up. But today (5/22/15), my mother, whose visiting from out of country, picked up the phone; I could hear her saying what cousin, and she said a name. The guy said yes that's me!
So, he told her that he was on his way yo Cali and that he wanted to visit us tomorrow. My mom gave him a lot of family information and details about the long weekend. I'm a little upset but we will see what he says tomorrow.

They called today asking "Do you remember me!? Guess who I am?!" We just play dumb "who?! Omg!! I can't remember" he finally cuzzed us out and hung up.

It might be same people the voice sounds the same from previous calls. I know it pisses me off but I go along with it for hours sometimes, just to piss em off. Families should warn elders.
