I got a call today (3/8/13) from guy with a thick dialect...maybe Indian...but the number was "unknown." This was my second call, the other one was yesterday from a woman with a thick dialect. I gave both of them a really hard time because I knew it was a scam! I finally told the guy today that I thought this was a scam and would he remove my name from their call list...which he said he would do (yeah! right!). It really throws them off when you interrupt their "script" to ask questions. I do this about a minute and hang up.
Well once again these stupid idiots keep calling. My husband and I used to be telamarketers. So we decided to call and harrass these idiots. It was quite funny. we did this for a while. It becomes quite retarded after a while but if you want to iritate them like they do us and you have free long distance please feel free to bug them back. maybe they will get the point that unsolisited phone calls are just irritating.
McAfee SiteAdvisor gives supportonclick.com a "green" rating. Anyone who has been called by these scammers, please register there and post a review so maybe they will change it.
Same story as everybody else. I just got a call like 20 minutes ago from a middle eastern guy with an accent claiming he was working online with microsoft to fix my computer. At first i didnt think anything of it but then i asked him how he found out about my problem when i didnt report it. Then he said since its an online company it is sent to them. By this time i was kinda ify about him so i asked him whats the name of his company and he sed support onclick. Since i was on my laptop while i was talking to him, i googled the name of the company and was trying to find out if it was a scam. I read something about a fee so i asked him was there a fee and he sed a one time fee of $54 so i made up a lie that i didnt have the money. He was so persistent and said what am i able to pay so i said nothing then he said not even $1 and i said nope. Then he said when do i think i could pay it and i said i dont know. So i asked him how come this is the first time im hearing about them and getting this call. He said its a survey performed every month around the world and i said but i had my computer for years and im not just getting this call. of course he didnt have an answer. Then i said i hvent used my computer for months now since i got my laptop so how does he know about my problem if it hasnt been turned on. So wen i was online i saw 3 numbers to contact him and asked him for a contact number and he gave me 2 out of the 3 numbers 212 796 0581 and 347 289 3770 and said his name was Tim. Thank God i had my laptop cause if i didnt i would have most likely gave him access to my computer since it is running really really slow and esp since im computer illiterate. Hope this helps anybody else who is getting contacted by this man cause it sure did help me and for those who already got played into his lil game please report him
Well, supportonclick.com has claimed a victim--my husband! Same story as everyone else--computer is slow discovered by an "online survey." He was told the person (name unknown) with a strong Indian accent was from Verizon (our internet carrier). My husband let these idiots remotely access our computer, and they supposedly deleted internet history, ran defrag, and downloaded some anti-spyware/anti-malware called "ATF-Cleaner." My husband paid $99 for an "annual" subscription after he could not be convinced to do the 3 year one for the every day low price of $265!
When I made him call back to cancel the "service" and demand our $99 back, he was told they only accept cancellation requests through email to "Patrick" and a $25 processing fee will be deducted from the $99! HA! If you are scammed, make sure you cancel your credit card ASAP and report the charge as fraudulent to your bank. My current security software hasn't caught any viruses, spyware, etc., but I'm afraid they attached something to the program the downloaded that is following our every computer move.
