Just received a call, havent listened to my voice mail, but even I know that it is not civil if it is "check fraud". He can leave all the messages he wants. They tried to do this to my husband about a year ago, and I called and spoke to the person, and he started threatening me with my husband going to jail over a pay day loan. (from 2003 or something like that.) I just laughed and told him if he ever called threatening again that I would pursue legal action myself. He was even calling family members. My husbands sons and sisters, etc...actually telling them the same thing..1. that is illegal and if he were really an atty he would know that...2...there is such a thing as statute of limitations, etc...he can keep calling...
And I just listened to the voice mail. Not once does he say who he is looking for, but he does state he has been "retained" as the prosecuting attorney for check fraud. And then gives a number to call to keep me from being inconvenienced. LOL
Yep same here, message stating law offices of david phillips needs to speak to me about a case of check fraud, called back and got a voicemail to leave a message. Don't leave a message people, that just gives them notice that someone they cold called may be susceptible to their scam. If they do indeed have anything legit, they would at least know your name.....
I had the same thing happen on March 29, 2012. Thankfully my husband is a lawyer. He said if he didn't say your name it is a scam! Wish people would stop crooks like this
