they called my wife yesterday, I got the number from my wife and I called them back today. They answered saying they were from the Internal Revenue Service and it was officer Johnson.they asked me for my lawyer information number I told them that I was a lawyer and he proceeded to tell me to go f*** myself. At that point I called back aftera few minutes and told them to get a real job and stop blowing up our country. Now I'm on block and cannot call them back. Lol what a joke
I couldn't understand the woman's name (thick Indian accent), but mine was also from Department of Legal (or Labor) Affairs. Mine also threw in that "due to the name calling last night", legal action was being started. (I don't think I was on the phone at all last night). I decided to look the number up on-line before calling (didn't want to end up with $200/minute phone charges or anything). Thanks to all you helpful poster's, I'm not going to even call them back to reverse harass them. Yay internet!
If you play with them you will find out more, all they want is for you to send them money.
Two months ago I received a same type call. They guided me go to bank withdraw $2000, if the cashier ask just said
I need that for personal use, than go to store like CVS to buy the named Prepaid cards $500 each, and come back home scratch off the strip, call them with the numbers. Done, $2000 gone.
I came home at 2:45 and found a message from this number telling me to call Immediately,no name . so I looked up zip code and found 347 is a New York number. I then got a call from BGE recording advising I could save if I lowered my electric use which I get as a volunteer with smartmeter. IMMEDIATELY the phone rang with same voice and message BUT new number 3472846151. since curious I googled it and got your site. I am not calling a long distance number.
Oh my! They really had me. I received a call from this number and IRS Inspector Danny Morrison from the Dept. of U.S. Treasury, Legal Department (thick foreign accent) told me that I would be in jail for 6 month as he was in the process of activating an arrest warrant against me for tax fraud. Very aggressive person. I was told not to speak to any third party and that I was the subject of a criminal investigation. He was giving me verbal notification that I owed $4756.98 in back taxes. He forwarded my call to Inspector Richard Harris. Because of his thick accent I asked him where he was from and he said NY. He wanted me to call him from my cell phone and put him on speaker phone while I drove to the nearest Walmart and sent him a money gram (I did not even know what that was). I was to obtain the validation reference (receipt) and he would send an agent to my home tomorrow to get the receipt. I told him I was uncomfortable with all of this and told him good-bye. Immediately received a reverse 911 call (only it was from 1-911) and a lady took some information and said she would send the police. Not so far. No warrant no agent no police and no money sent.
Just got a call from the "treasury Dept. regarding my son with a legal matter. Ask them what it was about and of course they couldn't tell me. I felt it was a scam and Thank God I checked. Not even going to tell my son. about this. No need to.
The scammers name is Jason Connor. He also had an Indian accent.
