A heavily accented Indian guy told me that my computer was not responding to updates. I asked if he knew my name and where my computer is, but he did not answer. Get him!
I recieved a call from a man with an "indian voice" claiming he was from Microsoft. He claimed my computer was not responding. He said his name was Fred, I asked for his #, since the called ID was blocked! He told me this number was 347-535-4547. Sound weird, BEWARE!
A man with a thick "Indian" or "Pakistani" accent said "This is Michael.I'm calling to inform you your computer is not reponnding to updates. Please open up Internet Explorer to fix the problem." I said "How do YOU know my computer is not responding to updates? I didn't call tech support!" He said "Go to the Internet Explorer and open it up Please." I said "Who is this? What's the number I can get back to you on? " He said "347=535-4547" I guess a big scam--sounds nutty to me...I didn't fall for it.WATCH OUT.Could be very dangerous.
I received the same call from a heavy accented Asian or Indian man either way,I couldn't understand him very well. He wanted me to turn on my computer because I wasn't receiving updates. I said how do you know and he said he was a tech for Microsoft (yeah right). It was weird when the number came up unknown. He wanted me to log into my computer and I said I was in the car and couldn't. I said give me your number and I'll call you back, he was hesitant but gave me 347-535-4547. Then he asked if it was ok if he called me back, I said I'll call you back (scammer). I called the number and he answered tech support, who am I speaking to? I hung up! Seems pretty odd to me and like a Scam!
Got same call 9/19/2013, fella said his name was Fred...Asked him how he got my information and told him I had no problems with Windows Update and asked him how he could identify my computer since I use an isolation router to mask my computer id...I run multiple computers on my network and tried to play along and asked him for the individual computer id so I know which system is acting up...Of course he could not give me information he did not have...I am a retired engineer and build my own systems...I hung up, dialed the number, it rang a few times and a female answered I said I must have the wrong number and asked to whom I was talking and she finally answered "Tech Support" and I asked representation who and she hung up....SCAM and the number should be reported as such...
