Caller immediately hung up when I answered. I called the number from my cell phone, and it immediately went to a voice mail message that said, "Thank you for calling back." If you are not interested in our promotions and wish to be put on our 'do-not-call list', please press 1 now..."
I never oblige these message requests with a response. I want them to think that I dialed a wrong number, thus not confirming their initial call to me. That would give them both my cell# and my landline# that they originally called.
This to add from previous day.Contacted Atty.Generals office,Consumer Protection and I am in the process of file a report Local and State police for the threat that was made to us.The guy on the phone that threatened us only has phone balls and is a coward that would threaten a women.
I have gotten MANY calls from them with different cities or different names. Twice before I have punched "1" and told the guy I always paid my cards in full each month. He hung up--both times! Today I got another call--from Maryville, WA. I answered it, punched "1" and left it on for about 5 minutes. They hung up on me because I heard the "beeps" on my phone after about a minute.
After only several days since their last call using a different number, but the same recorded message, here they are again. We are on the Do Not Call list, so this call certainly says a lot about their business ethics, doesn't it?
I wish I had a quarter for every time a robo call voice said "...this is your second and final notice..." This one's so stupid, yet people fall for it. Don't answer your phone, people, if you don't recognize the number.
"[female voice]This is a very important message about your current credit card accounts. This is your second and final notice to lower your credit card interest rate and payments. Press 1 now to find out the terms conditions and associated changes before the next billing cycle. Again, this is your final notice as it relates to the financial stimulus. So press 1 now to take advantage of this today."
Thanks to Google Voice ( www.google.com/voice ) you can hear this recorded robo call on my Spam Calls web page:
Wishful thinking, my friend. They will never get tired of calling because the robodialer does the dialing for them and scam artists are nothing if not persistent. And because they are scam artists, they don't care about the DNC list or your request that they not call again. I've sworn at them quite colorfully even and told them I know they are a scam. Doesn't matter. They fall silent for a month or two and then call again. And they start at the top of the list of possible valid number combinations (555-001-0001, 555-001-0002, 555-001-0003 and so on) and do it all over again. And again, and again.
