Amazing.. I had overheard a friend saying "the IRS called me yesterday" and was joking about it. I got the same call on my home voicemail today. Isn't it a felony to impersonate a federal agent?????? Why can't someone track down where the call center is and, well.. blow it up (by accident, of course)..?
Received message on my answering machine from 360-450-0205 claiming to be IRS threatening law suit, and to return call immediately. Did not call back, as I remembered IRS does not ever call with any such threats. Called my tax consultant and she confirmed my suspicions. It's a scam. These scumbags need to be caught and jailed.
I, too, received a call from this number attempting to scam me. I was perplexed, as it simply did not make sense. Still, it worried me enough to cause me to lose sleep. Finally, I decided to look up the number. I was enraged with the discovery that this was an attempt to scam people.
I decided to call them back, and give them a real piece of my mind. What followed was astounding. The first person I spoke with, once he knew that I was aware he was not the IRS, proceeded to speak filthy, sex related activities in which he would like to engage me in.
My fury was so great, I continued to call and harrass them over the next week, until finally they blocked my number. Ha! I spoke with at least 8-12 different individuals, all of which were foreigners giving assumed American names. Almost all resulted in conversation which contained swearing, or talk of sex. One jerk actually pleaded for marriage. Unbelievable. Absolutely vile people. Two of them asked why I continued to call. I responded with "Because you are trying to scam people out of their hard earned money, and every minute you spend arguing with me is a minute that you are not terrorizing innocent people!"
Lastly, I see a lot of people saying the speaker(s) was Indian. I admit that I thought so as well. However, when mentioning this during one of my conversations, the scammer very quickly informed me he was proudly from Pakistan.
I sickens me to know that there will undoubtedly be people who actually fall for this.
