The big question is why are we paying taxes for the FTC to operate this National Do Not Call Registry? Lets face it this is a joke! We register our numbers there and then we we become victims of telephone scams...... we file our complaint with the FTC. What happens then? Do the FTC investigators go after the scam artist? NO!!!! And the bad guys know it and thats why they continue to make the automated calls and more often than not they find someone to take the bait and give up credit information.
Please take the time to write to your Congress or Senate offical and make a formal complaint on why the FTC fails to act and do something to go after the scammers. We will continue to gett the calls and others will become victims of fraud if action is not taken. The FTC thing is not working.
It's called Smishing and the FBI is advising targeted people to report the messages to www.ic3.gov, the Internet Crime Complaint Center, a partnership between the FBI and the National White Collar Crime Center.
Called back and said if I press "1" , my number will be placed on Do not call list, Well it already is on the FTC's DNC list. So annoying and such an invasion of privacy-- they call anytime during the day they want.
