got a call from this number just now,  and from emily's post above, i would say it's the telephone's version of junk mail!

Rec'd this call.....Evidently junk call?

Telemarketer. the call enough times to put their number on your caller id so that you will eventually call them back.

When you do call them back, they give you an opportunity to be removed from their system.

Unfortunately, this puts the entire cost of them calling you, from them onto you.

Someone needs to report harassing this technique to the government.

suspicious phone number, asking to push a button to speak to someone

This call was to my cell number from something called "card services." I suspect it is from Chase Bank for their credit cards. That is what these calls have represented in the past. I blocked the number, but they just come back again later - with a different number.

How else can these calls be stopped?????
