I live in ALaska and have been getting alot of calls from this number with no one responding when I answer, it is annoying because they call late at night.
GCI doesn't do their sales calls about their services out of state period. They do hire their own employees to do this. Most the time the customer service reps over the phone will give you a call to announce their deals. They will come up as a 868 or their main 263-5400 number. I worked for them for awhile and we did our regular promotions over the phone at our local call center in Anchorage.
I just answered the call from this Iowa number and they stated that they were from a different cable company. This is the third time they changed their business name from GCI, Microcom, and Time Warner Cable.
These Scams will target people who live in different cities and pretend they are their local Cable TV Company. Just a tip of a reminder that GCI or any cable company will not ask for your information.
Your cable company already has your address where your services are going to and your number already in their computer systems. The only time they will call you is if you are late on your bill or service trouble.
