Its a pre-recorded message where the guy says hello? uh hello? oh I'm sorry I have the wrong number. Totally Phishing and making sure you answer so they can use the number for soliciting later. How annoying...
Received a call at 12:20 pm ET today. Heard a "hello," followed by "Sorry. I must have a wrong number." I put them on call block. Just wish my phone allowed more than 30 blocked numbers.
The FCC can't help because they are overloaded with complaints. The Ohio Ohio Attorney General doesn't even want to hear about these calls because they can't begin to track them. The Federal Do Not Call list is a joke, so save your complaints about it. AT+T and Verizon are powerless to identify the callers and shut down their numbers.
Somehow, the National Security Agency (NSA) can track all of our calls and online activities, yet cannot shut down scam telemarketers. Or maybe they just do not want to.
This number called our business today at 1305 hours. Caller ID said, "Omaha, NE." Just as others reported, a man's voice immediately starts out with, "Hello! Hello? Hello?" At this point, I had a sneaking suspicion that it was not a real man but either a recording or one of those newfangled AI systems. I said, "Hello?' back and the voice said, "I'm sorry. I think I must have the wrong number." When I started to ask who he was calling, the call disconnected. I see by the other comments here that my suspicion was correct: It wasn't a real person or a wrong number call at all but yet another way scam artists are plaguing law-abiding people. If they're hoping that I would be curious enough to call the number back, the morons are sadly mistaken. But how many people would call back a "wrong number" call? Very weird.
This number called my office at noon today. I didn't answer because I was busy talking to my boss. After reading all these comments I am now very glad I didn't answer, and will not ever answer in the future. I love this website!!
