These people called my granddaughter, telling them that I was in legal trouble. I called them and talked to a "Mr. Gilchrist". He said that I had 1 hour to resolve this or the lawyer would file papers. I told him that I would call him back. I did, but with MY lawyer on the line. She began to ask him questions and he became irritated. She asked him to fax the debt information on their letterhead so that we could verify the debt. He said "our fax is not working". She asked for his first name and he said "my first name is of no consequence". He said that he would tell the "lawyer" that I refused to pay and my lawyer asked to speak to him. Then he hung up. These people are trying to scam people out of money! Do not pay them! I googled them and got this page.
Just got a call looking for Ebony Burfield-I was supposedly listed as a reference for her-NEVER heard of her and they were trying to find her because they had an important letter they were trying to get to her since August 3rd. VERY WEIRD-they had my full name, etc.
They called my dad looking for me today. They told him they had a legal matter pending against me, he asked if it was Criminal or Civil and the lady calling told him, "It's not criminal". He told them they were pretty close to breaking the law themselves by going on a witch hunt asking people for my information and she back peddled. (My dad was a police officer for 41 years and knows the law well, he also doesn't put up with crap or threats.) She then tried telling him that they've been trying to contact me, but I won't return their calls or letters. (I've truly NEVER received a phone call or a letter from them and I'm easily traceable. My current information is available on my credit report, including my phone number and address. I find it odd that a debt collector/"law firm" isn't using my personal information to contact me, but instead calling relatives?) My dad informed her that I don't HAVE to talk to them if I don't want to and nothing says I have to. She didn't like that answer. He told her that without knowing what this was in reference to, he wasn't going to give them my personal information, but would pass the information on to me. They hung up and within minutes, they called my dad back. When he answered, they automatically hung up. That pissed him off because they just hung up on him instead of being professional and talking to him. So he called them back and told them 1. He wasn't very impressed with their company because of how they're handling themselves and trying to track people down - almost breaking the law themselves, and 2. If their phones automatically dialed my dad's phone number, the least they could do is stay on the line and explain it to the person they just called. A simple, "I'm sorry I didn't mean to call you back." would have been sufficient and professional. From what I can tell, this company is NOT professional and uses lies and bullying tactics to trick people into giving them other people's personal information. I'm not sure I want to contact them after reading all of these posts. I honestly have no idea what this even has to do with. Last I checked my credit, everything was taken care of. And now they're lying to my dad saying I won't return their calls or contact them - when they haven't even tried to get a hold of me?? My guess is that they're too stupid to find me and so they're contacting family members thinking they'll give me up. Nice try Peachtree... how about you actually do something honest for a change and get my information the old fashioned way... have you tried the phone book? Have you tried utility records? Have you tried looking at my credit report and getting my information that way? No, because that's the honest and professional way and it seems to me like the only thing Peachtree knows how to do is lie and sneak in the back door of those who aren't expecting it. I have no respect for dirty debt collectors. If I owe money, I'll pay it but there's no need to be sneaky when they haven't even tried to contact me.
