I work at a local government and am tired of answering all these "junk" calls.
This caller said we had to call about our credit card---we don';t have any.
I JUST received a call from this number AGAIN. I've been getting calls from it and several similar numbers -- all telemarketers who apparently have some very important information regarding my credit card, regardless of the fact that I don't HAVE a credit card -- for a while now, even though I am on the Do Not Call Registry like many others here.
I actually took the time to punch my way through the pre-recorded messages to speak to an actual representative a month ago, and they told me (in much more diplomatic terms) that while I may not have a literal credit card, any forms or contracts I've signed with my bank regarding DEBIT cards, for example, (which are generally issued by Visa or Mastercard, it turns out), probably included some sneaky language about giving my phone number to relevant affiliates, i.e. this telemarketing company.
I'm not sure how the Do Not Call Registry works, (not very well, apparently), but this seems like exactly the kind of loophole that allows these telemarketing companies to ignore it.
