I received a call from this number. Although I usually don't answer long distance #s I don't know, sometimes I do (so that I can put them in a 'bad call' group on my phone so that it won't ring if they call again). As soon as I answered, I would tell it was a automated telemarketing call. One thing that I found very disturbing is that I couldn't discontinue the call by hanging up. I kept hitting the hung up button - a number of times - and the message just kept going. The only way that I ended the call is by pushing 3 (the message said to press 1 if I had was interested and 3 if I wanted to discontinue the call). At that moment I was fumbling to get the battery out of the phone (I wasn't going to let the call go on) but decided to the simply push 3 and let the call end itself.
Don't blame Verizon. These scammers use robo dialers that call all combinations of numbers, meaning having an unlisted number doesn't help either. Luckily, so far I have not gotten calls on my cell phone. For my home VoIP phone (Vonage) I purchased the Panasonic phones that allow you to block calls. It will only ring once then show the call has been blocked, and they only get a busy signal. It has saved me a lot of frustration as everytime I see one that is blocked, I feel like I have won! Also, if they block caller ID, Vonage allows you to set a message so that your phone never even rings...it just tells the caller you do not accept unidentified calls and to unblock their caller ID if they wish to contact you. Between the two...I have much less frustration!
Got another phone call from a number that I don't "know" or recognize.
I didn't answer, but looked up the number here.
They left no message.
I am on the National Do-Not-Call List,
and have been for over a year now.
(I guess this is our government at work for us.)

and see if that can get the government to work for me.
(Yes I will go through all those steps.)
