I think all of us who are annoyed by telemarketer calls have to put our effort together to find out who these callers are and where they are. Then through State Attorney Generals of each state sue them to the amount FCC allows($1500.00 per case). This will drive these fly by night telemarketers out of business.
Called on my cell. No message left. I am starting to get a lot of calls on my cell even though I do NOT give the number out (only give out land line number). Wonder if Verizon gives out number.
Scammers and/or illegal telemarketers most likely. The DNC list does nothing to stop the solicitations, though some companies have at least try to appear they are following the rules by calling their solicitations surverys/courtesy calls/referrals/etc. And, they're right about one thing; you don't need a credit card. They will do/say anything to get financial info from you...trying to get any information they can get to use to try to get your money. If you have a credit card and give them the information, they'll try to get money that way. If you don't, you'll start getting calls from the phoney "past due loan" extortion group. Best practice; don't pick up any number you don't recognize. If it's for you and is important, a message will be left. Screen vigrously any messages that do come in, to week out the phony ones. And good luck, because these losers have a lot of time to do their searching.
